Description: A TEMPLE of BAGAN (region of MANDALAY) in the 19th century- Engraving (litho) dating the 19th century pasted on watermarked paper (from a drawing of Lancelot) - Size : 28 cm x 20 cm (margins included) - Excellent condition (without foxing - remarkably clean). [The second photo shows all the engraving, including margins (to visualize the size of the engraving, the size of the margins and layout of the engraving compared to its margins). The third photo shows the back of the engraving.]Dieudonné Auguste Lancelot is a French lithographer, engraver and illustrator born in Sézanne in 1822 and died in Paris in 1894. He was a pupil of Anne-François Arnaud, of Troyes, and exhibited at the Salon episodiquement, from 1853 to 1876. He illustrated publications like The World Tour, The Picturesque Store, The Illustrated World ... etc. The museum of Troyes keeps a watercolor of him.N.B. This lithogravure from around 1860 was the subject, on our part, of a special treatment in order to make disappear the outrages of time and, in particular, the numerous foxings which smeared it. After this treatment, we pasted it on a watermarked paper. This treatment had the effect of "rejuvenating" it; however, it remains an authentic lithogravure from the second half of the 19th century.
