Cream colored ground above painted by hand with floral design in soft rose color enamels with pale green leaves & gilt outlining. Barber & Ramsey both note the high quality of artwares of this company. Neither show the rare "The Potters Wheel" mark on this piece which reads "Trade Mark The Potters Wheel Burroughs & Mountford" & shows stick framed circle with 2 artisans at work. By hand 3041 in painter's green & gilt P underscored in gilder's hand. The mark is also not shown in Lehner's Encyc of US Marks, (1988). Lite natural wear & natural glaze crazing.
