Reindeer in battle. By Moritz Furst. This medal was first used in early 1820 after difficulties in locating an accurate likeness. This is one of the rare medals in the Naval Series, with only 81 samples struck. Dark surfaces with the reverse in choice condition, small spot can be seen on the obverse that does not detract. A rare medal to find in Mint State condition. Johnston Blakeley also spelled Johnston Blakely (October 1781 – October 1814) was an officer in the United States Navy during the Quasi-War with France and the War of 1812.
