(frequently missing from these cameras)Camera background: The Canon AV-1 was introduced by Canon in May 1979, 3 years after the introduction of the highly successful AE-1. The AV-1 is a Aperture-Priority 35 mm SLR with a focal plane shutter and TTL metering. It does not have a manual exposure mode. Canon produced this camera in response to the overseas demand (led by the US)for an aperture priority AE camera which were in the majority of sales in these markets at this time. Canon changed the battery door to stronger door which also provides more hand grip and added electrical support for the Canon Power Winders with the AV-1. This was a highly successful addition to the Canon line. Condition of this camera: Optics: Very good to excellent condition. Viewfinder is in excellent condition - clear and bright with no dust evident.Lens is in very good to excellent condition - no cleaning marks/fungus/scratches. Very small amount of fine dust (very hard to see - must backlight to see any). Aperature - snappy rebound / no oil on blades / positive lock at all settings Mechanical: Excellent conditionShutter is snappy in "A", "B", and 60 hz modes. Calibration appears accurate. NO CANON "A" SERIES SQUEAL - (camera has been prelubed to prevent this). Shutter lock is working correctly.Light meter is working and displaying accurately in viewfinder. Good calibration.Battery compartment in excellent condition with no corrosion. Camera requires 1 6v silver oxide or alkaline battery (not included). Battery check is working as designed (black button by rewind). Battery door in excellent condition. ON / OFF controlled by shutter lock and is workingNEW SEALS INSTALLEDWind/Rewind, Mode and ASA dials, Frame Counter, and Self Timer are all working as designed and operating smoothly. Backlight switch/button is working (see manual for operation of this feature)Depth of field preview workingCosmetics: Excellent ConditionLeatherette is in excellent condition -Intack with no noticeable scratches or rub marks.Top plate is in excellent condition - no scratches or rub marks evident.Bottom plate is in very good to excellent condition - no scratches or rub marks evident.Comments: Great example of a CANON AV-1 in excellent mechanical / and optical / Cosmetic condition. With new seals installed, prelubed to prevent the "A" series squeal and cleaned - this camera is ready to go. This camera would make a very nice every day shooter.
