Description: Up for sale is my own personal Carver A-500X stereo amplifierFully tested and working wellThe unit has normal signs of use. I'd say 8-9 out of 10 with the exception of the gain knob on the rear right channel is clipped off. It's turned up to 10 so never really used it. Also, when in bridge mode, the left gain knob is the only one needed. Electrically fully functional with no problems. This unit was used in mono mode with another A-500X putting out 800 watts a channel in 8 Ohms. These were well taken care of and never abused. Meters had lights changed and work perfectly. The front panel is really neat looking with the twin lighted VU meters! The bass is tight and strong. The treble and midrange is smooth and pleasing to the ear. It does not seem edgy in my opinion. It is much quiter then the older Carver amplifiers. There is no triac buzz like the older Magnetic Field designs. I like my A-500x so much I would like to buy another one someday!Similar Products Used:Carver M-500t, M-1.0t, VTL Monoblocks, Lightstar ReferenceOVERALLRATING5★★★★★★★★★★VALUERATING5★★★★★★★★★★ stanwitAudioPhileSTRENGTH:Size, weight, aesthetics, quality of build & finish, ease of setup and operation, and value (quality and level of sound for dollar spent)WEAKNESS:Sonically none. It would have been better engineering if the bulbs that light the meters were housed by snap-in or twist-in sockets. Replacement mandates de-solder of burned-out lamp,solder-in of new.I replaced my Carver M-400 with the A-500X to power my (Carver)AL-III's. They are the front L and R speakers in my home theater setup. Simply incredible. (A bridged output A-220 powers the center, a Polk CS-400i with equal splendor while a Harmon/Kardon Citation 24 keeps up to power the rear dipole Atlantic Technologies surrounds) They simply provide all the power you will ever need and more in a normal sized (probably I'd guess up to 20' X 20'), listening area using these power hungry ribbon speakers.Similar Products Used:Nothing in this power range.
