Description: This Speak & Math circuit bent by RMPC is excellent for creating electronic glitch sounds! Musicians can explore a diverse range of soundscapes and listen to the unheard sounds of digital logic. This type of instrument has been used by Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Beck, Silver Apples, The Chemical Brothers, and more! Modifications of internal wiring and added components have altered the built in math games to act super glitchy. With this design, the original keypad isn’t needed to create Circuit Bent sounds and is covered by the artwork. The screen also reacts to sounds in interesting ways and displays complex patterns. Specifications: ON/OFF Switch + Black Reset Button: These are used to restart the device and turn it off. Both interrupt the power supply to insure that the battery isn’t connected to the circuit. Bending Switches: The four switches on the left side of the instrument create Distorted Oscillator Sounds. These can be combined, allowing for many possible tones. Strike Button (RED): Similar to keying in commands into a vintage computer, the Strike Button can access interesting states in combination with other features. Additionally it replaces the original ON button to activate the device. For an instant “Silver Apples” sound, use the Strike Button percussively with the Bending Switches. Strike Hold Switch (ON=LEFT OFF=RIGHT): This switch holds the Strike Button and turns the device into a noise generator. It can sound like anything from a rocket liftoff sound effect to a low hum. Excellent with Pitch Knob and bending switches. Logic Mode Switch (MODE A) = Left Position: In this mode the Strike button can initiate a streaming bend that makes a great source for looping. Bending and Looping Switches are more stable. (MODE B) = Right Position: The Strike button will cause the Speak & Math Voice to give nonsense problems and create glitch sounds. Bending Switches and Looping Bend sound different and act in complex ways. Looping Switch: Some loops change and dissolve after a few seconds, others can last for several minutes. In (MODE A) loops are more stable. The Bending Switches will usually interrupt the loop, except for the lower middle one which can act more like the Strike button. Pitch Bend + Toggle (ON=RIGHT OFF=LEFT): The red knob slows the internal clock to access deep tones. By using the Toggle Switch below the knob, the Pitch Bend effect can be turned on and off. Silver Pitch Bend Bulb: Allows the user to control the pitch of the instrument by touching the silver conductive bulb. Touching this and the circuit board design allows for extra dynamic range.
