Description: Clan Mac Millan Tartan Print by RR McIan This print is from a series of sketches by the renowned highland artist R.R. Mc Ian. McIan was born in Scotland 1803. In his late teens he moved to London and during this period he developed his passion - painting. His paintings depicted events and scenes of drama and conflict from Scotland's history - The Battle of Culloden, A Highland Feud and many others. These sketches were originally published in 1845 in "The Clans of the Scottish Highlands - The Costumes of the Clans". They were commissioned by the Highland Society of London and dedicated, with her permission, by Queen Victoria to record the appropriate Dress, Tartans, Arms and Insignia of the clans. This lovely New illustration is printed on heavy card stock and measures approximately 5" x 7". After your purchase it will be Custom Matted in a black "acid free" mat, ready for your 8" x 10" frame.
