These grips are only for the Colt Woodsman Target Match 1st Series guns and will not fit others. These replicas are made for the original factory Colt product, and not for altered or modified guns. These are the "Elephant Ear" grips, so named for their appearance (especially when not mounted on the gun). These are rare reproduction grips, made of English walnut, which is CNC-machined and polished to a high gloss before being checkered in the pattern seen in the photos. These are not varnished but are oil-finished with a blend of natural oils to protect the wood without hiding the beauty that nature has created. The grip is made as one piece; the two screws required for installation, one for the frontstrap and one through the grip from side-to-side, are included with the one-piece grip. There are no medallions on these, as shown in the photos. The frontstrap screw is a replica of the factory Colt screw but slightly longer to accommodate the thickness of this wood grip; the screw threads are made in the same size as the original Colt specs. If your gun has been altered to accommodate a different frontstrap screw when the factory screw was lost, the screw included with the grips may not fit your gun; you will need to seek help from your gunsmith. NOTE: Each grip is made from natural, solid English walnut, so the exact shade and grain of each set will vary. The grips NOT stained, but are oiled rather than varnished so the beauty of the natural English walnut is what is seen. The wood's grain is "pixelated" where checkering is done, which is unavoidable, but the smooth areas of the grip show the true grain of the wood. Be careful when installing this grip as it is one piece and wraps around the frontstrap of your Colt 1st Series Target pistol. This version of the grips are checkered within a sharply defined border, with the portion outside the border left smooth. The grip is installed in one piece, with the grip screws supplied. These grips are simply outstanding when fitted to a gun, and there aren't any photos that really do these grips justice; these are simply beautiful. These will add that special touch, as no two sets of grips have exactly the same grain. No thumbrest is present on these grips, allowing left- or right-handed shooters to enjoy these classic Colts.
