Description: eBay Listing Template r1 IF YOU DON'T SEE THE LOCK YOU NEED, ASK US, WE STOCK THOUSANDS OF OLD LOCKS! CORBIN # 188ENTRY MORTISE LOCK DOUBLE THUMB SET, DOUBLE CYLINDERS NICE (9430)Vintage: circa 1873-1900: CORBIN HARDWARE, works fine, entry mortise lock made to accommodate two cylinder locks and to accommodate a thumb press handle from the inside and the outside. In other words, this is the type that was made for a thumb latch on each side of the front door, does NOT accommodate a turn knob. NOTE: At your request we may possibly be able substitute a thumb turn knob in one of the cylinder holes, just let us know before we ship. The lock is NOT reversible. It is for Left Hand entry (see our hand of doors chart if you need visual help). Heavy brass faceplate with body of the lock clearly maker marked CORBIN one of America's many high quality manufacturers of builder's hardware during the second half of the 19th Century and early 20th Century. Dimensions as follows: FACEPLATE: Brass face plate is marked VASSAR and measures 7 1/4" long, 1 5/16" wide, 1/8" thick. BACKSET: The back set (the measurement from the front edge of the brass faceplate to the center of the cylinder lock hole) is 2 1/2". BOX: Box is 3 1/2" deep from the front edge of the brass face plate to the back of the box and it is 5" top to bottom. Has a corner chip on the box lid (see pic) but it has not effect on the excellent operation of the lock. SCREWS: Screws are on 6 1/2" centers. DOOR HANDLES: The lock is made for a thumb press latch handle to be operated on both sides of the door which is why it does not have a knob post. CYLINDERS: We have included two matching cylinders with a key that is easy for you to have replicated. But, as noted above, we may be able to ship with a thumb turn insert for the inside of the door that would allow the deadbolt to be thrown by hand from the inside. Please check with us first to assure we have one that will accommodate this lock. An interesting feature of this lock is that most lock cylinders it accepts must be inserted upside down. However the lock was clearly made to function like this, probably to save room inside. And it does work perfectly. Very clean inside and out, no rust, functions very well, heavy duty and with keys! Fully restored and working perfectly. SEE OUR FULL INVENTORY of MORTISE LOCKS & KEYS HERE! Village Salvage • 85 S. Main Street • P.O. Box 284 Waynesville • Ohio • 45068
