Growing up to 6 foot, this plant makes excellent coverage to create a little privacy or to cover an ugly bush or tree. Codonopsis is a family of plants used to replenish vital energy, or qi. Codonopsis reportedly contains chemicals that seem to slow down the growth of cancer cells. It also seems to affect the immune system. People have used codonopsis for the treatment of a wide range of ailments and it is sometimes called "poor man's ginseng" because it's used in commercial products as a substitute for Panax ginseng. Planting Instructions: Being a climber, this vining plant will need another plant, pole or trellis to climb on. Seeds will need to be cold stratified 30 days if not sown in late fall or early spring before the last frost. To direct sow, surface sow spacing 12-24" between plants in a sunny area.
