Description: In 1938, a brutally scary set of war cards were published called “Don’t Let It Happen OVER Here.” The 24 card set had crude artwork but strongly patriotic (some would say “jingoistic”) text on the backs and became a hit among kids and collectors alike. This test set sold here is a sequel (NOT a reprint) of that series. Unlike the original, there are twice as many cards in this set and the artwork is superb! All 50 original paintings are by Ricardo Garijo, Sr. (of Commando Comics fame). The stories are foreign abuses of their citizens are all true, and many of them – though obscure at the time of publishing, have become better known today (including modern day slavery and so-called “honor” killings). This sensational series follows in the tradition of Fight the Red Menace and Horrors of War, by pulling no punches and commissioning all new art just for this series. Even the editorial is in the same tone as the original 1930s, 40s, and 50s ultra patriotic predecessors. If you loved those classics, you’ll certainly enjoy this one and want it in your collection. Less than 450 test boxes were made (totaling less than 2,000 sets if they were all opened and made up.) Each set is serial numbered to prove it. Rare, original, graphic and cool. There’s even a Mars Attacks homage card (#36) which takes Germany to task. What’s not to love? This is a complete set of 50 cards straight out of packs (Near Mint) plus the test wrapper.
