H1(Henschel with 88 mm L/56 cannon) Campaign - Eastern Front 1944 Unit - sSSPzAbt 101 - Wittmann served first in Operation Barbarossa in 1941 and then at Kursk as a platoon leader. In October 1943, the 1st SS Panzer Grenadier Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler" was reorganized as 1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler". In October 1943, after the start of the Soviet Autumn Offensive, LSSAH was transferred to the Kiev area. In October, Wittmann changed his Tiger No. 1331 for the Tiger S21 and received Jurgen Brandt (Tiger S24) under his command. On Oct. 13th, Wittmann's Tiger reportedly destroyed 20 T-34s along with 23 infantry and anti-tank guns. This torrid pace continued throughout December 1943. His group was attached 1 SS Panzer Corps in mid-1944 when he was transferred to Normandy and the Western Front (he received the command of 2nd Kompanie of sSSPzAbt 101 of LSSAH.
