Description: Baltimore Exchange Plate This great plate features the Baltimore Exchange building with city in the background. The Exchange Building, designed by B.H. Latrobe, was erected in 1815 between Water and Second Streets. It was a four story structure, 255 feet long, with two long wings which projected beyond the central portion. One section was occupied by the United States Bank and the other was the Customs House. The center surmounted by a dome was used as the exchange. Produced by Henshall & Co, of Staffordshire who was in business until 1828 so was produced prior to that. Approx. 9" wide. Condition: Large chip to corner, otherwise minor imperfections to be expected with age. I will be listing a large Collection of early transfer ware, many from a private collection.
