Elegant antique c1900/10 French School oil on canvas female nude. Framed

Description: EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE OIL ON CANVASPRETTY GIRL FEMALE NUDE One of two by the same hand that I had. The male figure sold, though, so the photo of them together is just included for reference. In fact, this wonderfully elegant girl was always really the nicer of the two. Aside from depicting the beautiful girl, the palette wasn't exactly the same either, and although the only difference was probably little more than a touch of prussian blue in the mix, that does make for a subtlety of tone that is particularly pleasing! With visible image measuring 23 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches (56.5 x 23.5 cm)And including the frame, the whole measures 26 1/8 x 12 1/8 (66.3 x 30.8 cm)With a photo of both by my larger than usual door to help put that size in some context.xAnd this dates from around the turn of the century or a little later, c1900/15, and is probably French. It has now occurred to me, though, that she does look rather like the beautiful Mary Lloyd, who was one of the British models at that time when some of the models themselves were iconic in their own right as artistic inspiration and muse to some of the greatest artists of those days. But whether French or English, she is lovely quality, wonderfully elegant and very beautiful! And when nudes as pretty as this are so incredibly rare, that does make her a very desirable piece, especially at the price that is all that is being asked for this! It would be nice if one knew who painted her, but given the quality, she would likely then be ten times the price! If not more, depending on the name. So she's potentially quite speculative if appropriate research could identify authorship. Presented in a relatively modern but attractive wooden frame. The canvas is unstretched, but the painting is small enough for that not to be problematic. The canvas is backed with the white board seen verso (nothing to do with me), as must have been put there by the framer, because that's a thick supportive conservation board. Not what might normally be expected to be seen used to support an oil. It's not as rigid and has a few bumps and thumps on the back (nothing affecting anything), but it's still doing the job effectively and it might be doing good as well. So I've left it. And she is good to hang as she is. Condition wise, as said, she is unstretched, so not flat by dint of being stretched taut (as still not always necessarily entirely flat then anyway), but not too bad at all. She looks flat from a decorative perspective. Condition is obviously commensurate with age, but she has obviously been relatively recently lightly cleaned and restored. And, as so framed nicely, she is good to hang as she is regardless. Do come and chat if you're interested.
