Description: Exquisite Antique Art Deco Rudolf Steiner Austrian Silver & Enamel Box With beautiful cobalt blue guilloche enamel in a hypnotic radiating pattern. Interspersed medallions on the side and a border on the top having polychromed floral designs in relief. The hinged lid opens to a gold-washed interior. In the center of the top is a glass cameo which portrays a cherub riding a dolphin. The interior has the makers mark RS together with the Austrian fineness mark for .935 silver. Austrian born philosopher, and architect Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) was the founder of the Anthroposophical Society. In the early 1900's Steiner created some stunning jewelry designs which were executed by a small number of appointed goldsmiths and silversmiths, mainly Bertha Meyer-Jacobs and Karl Morh. Circa Early 1900s. 3 1/4" x 2 3/8" x 1 3/8" high. 0.4 pounds. Excellent condition. Very minor surface tarnish and wear.
