Description: Please read the entire listing before bidding or buying: Up for sale is an EXTREMELY RARE first edition copy of "SUMMARY OF SCIENTOLOGY", that was written and signed by J.F. (Jack) Horner, D.Scn.This book was published by The Hubbard Association of Scientologists International (H.A.S.I.) in the United States, which published all early Scientology books (see photo #2), and was printed by the Manney Company in Ft. Worth, Texas. It is copyrighted, 1956, by J. F. Horner, D.D., D.Scn (Doctor of Scientology) (See photo #4). It is an excellent addition to any collection of early Scientology items. In my opinion, this is the best book for newcomers that has been written on the original ideas and goals of Scientology, including chapters on Understanding and Communication, Reality, Self-Determinism, the Dynamics, Tone Scale, Processing and "The Game of Life". The book was dedicated to L. Ron Hubbard. The book was inscribed by the author to the owner with: "To ------- with appreciation for persisting. Jack Horner, Nov 1984" (Photos #2 & #7). Jack Horner was an early Dianeticist who became involved with Dianetics in 1950. He was a very early Scientologist as well, and was a 'right-hand' of Hubbard's, conducting courses, conferences and Congresses for him in the U.S., England, and South Africa. He was one of the very few people upon whom Hubbard bestowed the title of Doctor of Scientology (D.Scn). This book is particularly rare because Jack was declared a "Suppressive Person" and ex-communicated from the Church of Scientology and declared "fair game" on September 17, 1965. At that time, all inventory of this work was seized and destroyed throughout all Scientology Centers and Organizations. Members of the Church were told to destroy their personal copies or risk being declared a Suppressive Person as well. This one survived. Jack passed away in November, 1989. CONDITION: This book is in good/fair condition for its 66 years, and shows more age than wear with discoloring on the cover and yellowing of the pages. The cover has become detached from the staples binding the book (Photo #7). The owners name and address is stamped in a couple of places (again see Photo #7 as an example of one of them, also on page 55 of the book). There is a small ink drawing of the Scientology symbol on the last page of the book that was there when purchased. (Photo #6).
