Description: ‘Arrochar, Loch Long’ by Ezra ‘Elmer’ Keene; 1853-1929, Photographic artist, born in Osberton near Worksop in Nottinghamshire to a Quaker family, son of Stephen Keene, a miller from Melksham in Wiltshire, and his wife Elizabeth whose family came from Ireland. In the 1871 census Elmer, was a miller and baker, by1881 his occupation was given as Photographic Artist. The family moved to Leicester in 1901. A fine original print which is bright and unfaded, with excellent sepia tones and textures. The image printed on a paper sheet measuring approximately 37 cm x 18 cm (14½ x 7 ins.) Signed and titled in the image with ‘Bristol’ and ‘Worcester’ embossed blindstamps. Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is fair with handling marks condusive with age.
