Description: Vintage Fenwick Feralite Flyrod with STH Reel Combo The rod is a Fenwick Feralite Model FF112S, 9'3"long with 11 guides ( 2 or 3 pieces detachable fighting butt ), 5 oz. 10 weight. Rod comes with sock & hard tube for safe travelling. The first generation Feralite flyrods (1963-1971): The blanks were initially made by Grizzly, but eventually blank production was brought in house. These rods had the patented Feralite ferrule, a tip over butt fiberglass arrangement that has since been copied by almost every other rod maker. These rods were generally full flexing and slow (to a modern graphite trained fisherman). The reel that comes with this rod is a STH MR-POP 3 ( Made in Argentina ). Comes with manuals & corduroy bag & 1 extra cassette. During the early 1980's the STH Company introduced a series of reels made in Argentina. They were revolutionary in one respect, instead of having changeable spools, clear plastic cassettes were changed within the single spool. These reels came in four sizes, and each reel came with three cassettes. It was like buying a reel and two extra spools. If an angler wanted to add more cassettes to his/her system they were very inexpensive (about $10). Cassettes were lightweight and best of all they didn't have a bulky handle. Two cassettes took up about the same storage space as a reel spool. The weight/bulk/expense problems associated with carrying multiple extra fly lines had pretty much been solved. The STH cassette reels instantly made market penetration. Everything you see in the photos is what is included with the sale.
