NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Ferrell Anderson, pictured in his Brooklyn Dodgers uniform circa 1946. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1946, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Ferrell Jack Anderson (Andy) was born in Maple City, KS and died in 978 in Joplin, MO. He went to college at University of Kansas. He played major league baseball from 946 to 953 as catcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals. Anderson was signed by the New York Yankees in 939 after spending four years as an all conference football tackle at the University of Kansas. He was purchased by the Brooklyn Dodgers from the Yankees system in 942. Only a few months into the season he was drafted and went into the Army. He left the service in 945 and returned to the Dodgers minor league system. He appeared in 79 games for the Dodgers in 946. He was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in 95 and then purchased by the St. Louis Browns. In 953 he was sold again, this time to the St. Louis Cardinals. He played in 8 games for the Cards in 953.
