Description: This is a fine, handsome pair of English petal base candlesticks dating from the reign of George II. Made about 1740, the plinths were cast in two parts and soldered together: the seam can be seen if you look carefully. The knop under the candle cup is shaped to reflect the base, a stylish feature. The plinths are peened to nicely finished petal base which measures slightlly more than 4 inches across. The height is 6¾ inches. Condition is very good. The sticks are tight and straight. Returns are accepted if there is a significant error in our description.
