In 1985, in advance of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Statue of Liberty, Francis J. Cardamone of Staten Island self-published this commemorative pamphlet. The contents include (1) The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus (1883), the poem on the Statue's base; (2) a Foreword by Cardamone; (3) a short biography of Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor who designed the Statue; (4) a reprint of the rare article "The Bartholdi Statue" from St. Nicholas Magazine, July 1884, along with a preface by Cardamone; (5) a table showing the dimensions of the Statue of Liberty; (6) an excerpt from the Marseillaise and the lyrics to America the Beautiful; and (7) an afterword by Cardamone. The book is in nice condition. There is some tanning and soiling to the cover.
