Description: This auction is for a Franklin Mint 1967 CHEVROLET CORVETTE L88 CONVERTIBLE CONNOISSEUR'S SERIES" LIMITED EDITION (of ONLY 427!) in 1:12 scale. This fiberglass model is INCREDIBLY RARE, and does not come up for sale often. This example is absolutely exemplary, and in SUPERIOR condition! And this one appears to have NEVER BEEN DISPLAYED! Its outward appearance presents as new and nearly pristine! It is THAT nice! The Sunfire Yellow on the highly polished fiberglass surface is super glossy, and looks outstanding on this car! The black stinger on the hood and nose is expertly applied, and looks superb! The finish is simply gorgeous on this! The doors, hood and flip-up headlight housings all open and close without issue. All of the chrome is in excellent condition, and really shines. The front wheels turn and pivot with the steering wheel, and the tires and chassis are fantastic! It is a very clean car, both inside and out! The black interior is in outstanding shape, and looks new! It is the perfect complement to the stunning yellow exterior. The windows are clean and clear, and the side windows even roll up and down manually with a turn of the window crank handles! Additionally in the interior, the sun visors can pivot and be positioned, the gear shift can be maneuvered, the turn signal lever moves, the glove compartment and ashtray both open and close, and the handbrake handle can also be positioned up and down! The leather-covered seat backs can be positioned forward or back, in driving position, and the rear deck lid flips up to reveal the folded up fabric convertible top (non-functional by design). The gas cap cover also opens! And speaking of functioning parts, The Franklin Mint spared no detail on electronic features! The rear spare compartment opens to reveal a battery storage area, and with the installation of three AAA batteries, several incredible working features become apparent. There is a switch to the right of the compartment, and when switched on, these features are activated. A button on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel can be pressed to turn on the headlights, tail lights, and the light-up gauges on the dash! When the brake pedal is depressed, the tail lights actually brighten, as seen in the photos! The horn actually sounds when pressed too! Possibly the coolest feature is that when the keys in the ignition are pressed, the sound of the 427 engine (recorded, of course!) roars to life! All of the parts are intact and function as they should. This diecast comes with the option to display it with the removable yellow hardtop roof, or as an open roadster. The car looks outstanding in either configuration! The roof is included, and is safely stored in its original clear packaging, along with the handling gloves, and even the three brand new AAA batteries! The details are lovely. The photo etch metal emblems and chrome foil Corvette scripts are all in like new condition, and look exquisite! The wheels turn and pivot with the steering wheel. This car displays beautifully, and it is just a gorgeous Corvette diecast! It really is a MUST HAVE! These are very hard to find, particularly rare, and have lately been increasing in price. And this one looks STUNNING, and again seems to be UNDISPLAYED! Here is a truly rare opportunity to own one of these difficult to find models! It comes in its original box, with its protective styrofoam. The box shows shelf wear, including tape to shore up the ends, which have a number of tears, as well as one small missing flap on one end. There is also a wooden plinth base for the car, which is unused, and still wrapped in its original styrofoam padding, inside its accessory box, and the clear accessory pack and a plastic tray to rest the car on when installing batteries is also included, and within their own separate box. There is no paperwork, but the Hang Tag is present, and attached to the rear of the vehicle. This car will be packed with great care, including plenty of packing material in an outer box to assure no damage to this lovely and EXTRAORDINARILY RARE model.
