Description: 6 different sample chairs; 3 different designs; and 5 different colors designed by French designer Henry Massonnet who is known for his modern, space-saving furniture designs. He is best known for his Tam stool of 1968 and his 1970s Fauteuil 300. Massonnet invented a new plastic molding process of making a piece of furniture of a single piece of material. He produced chairs that were lightweight, strong, weatherproof and stackable. These 6 miniatures are a prototype of Massonnet’s later designs. This group is dated 1984-85. Henry’s chairs were the precursor to later plastic stackable chairs known as monoblocs. I owned several of these myself because they were stackable and could be left outdoors. DESCRIPTION: The red, black and white chairs are 3” tall x 2” wide. The undersides are incised “Stamp, Ligne; Henry’s name; Made in France; the address; 1984; International Design Pending”. Below that is CLS and a New York address and phone number. The red low-seater is just marked “Stamp”. Size is 3” wide and tall. The pale green and peach color chairs are marked “Charleston; Ligne Henry’s name; Made in France by Stamp; address in France; 1985; international Design Pending. All chairs are in excellent, unused condition.
