Description: Offered for immediate purchase . . . . . . is a packet containing a hundred (100) ~ Vintage *MICRO / SMALL* Gar Scales Dyed Sepia-Brown Mix ~ in the usual variety of shapes and sizes, measuring from approximately an eighth of an inch (1/8") to approximately three-eighths of an inch (3/8") long. Micro/Small Gar Scales, collected from vintage shellcraft supplies I've been fortunate enough to find throughout the years. Dyed Gar Scales like these were used from the 1940s to 1960s era to create flower petals for seashell jewelry, flowers, pictures, and floral bouquets (especially with green Gar Scales used as foliage, brown Gar Scales used as autumn foliage, and red scales used as Poinsettia blossoms). (Please Note ~ the flowers shown in one of the photos are for illustration purposes only and are not included with your purchase.) What a striking splash of color these would create in Sailor's Valentines!
