Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. A total of 1050 aircraft were built before production ceased in 2004, however many airframes have since been retrofitted with drag-reducing blended winglets to help improve fuel economy. The easily configurable metal landing gear features a steerable nose wheels with attached metal gear doors and magnets to securely lock the main gear for ground display. The series includes drag reducing blended winglet upgrades (some models) and features either the Rolls-Royce or Pratt & Whitney turbofan engine with detailed rotating fan blades inside.
