General John K. Cannon Signed Cover Army Air Force Commander ''Cannon Air Base''

Description: Major General John K. Cannon [1892 1955] was a prominent Army Air Force commander during World War II who commanded the Mediterranean Allied Air Forced during the war. Cannon began his military career in 1917, and was an early proponent of aviation development. During World War II he also commanded the Tactical Air Command, the Twelfth Air Force and the Mediterranean Allied Air Force. General Cannon died in 1955, after 38 years of service and Cannon Air Force Base located in New Mexico is named in his honor. Listed for auction is a postal envelope signed by General John H. Cannon. The envelope has his name, rank and command in type and the autograph is signed ''John K. Cannon'' in black fountain pen. The envelope is postmarked Mar 17, 1952, and is affixed with one U.S postage stamp. The envelope measures 6.50 x 3.50 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition with a bold signature. The autograph is authentic and is a nice example of this noted World War II Army Air Force commander.
