Won’t bend, break and generally fall apart like the imported copies. Don Hansen perfected this bit for function and balance. The mouthpiece is a copper alloy that promotes a soft mouth. The shanks are stainless steel. It is a great bit for the hosrse that has graduated out of the snaffle bit and is ready for curb pressure and some port. The short curved-back shank alls you to easily flex the horse’s head laterally for correct circles and turns.This is a genuine collector’s bit and the outside of the left shank is stamped with his maker’s mark “DH” as shown in the photos. The shanks measure 7 inches in length and the mouthpiece is 5 inches in width and 11.5 ounces, so it is a very nice light bit for a young or green horse moving from the snaffle to the shanked bits for over $349.00 on Mfg website
