This is a clean, well maintained pre owned bit with some wear to the copper mouthpiece from use and minor surface scratches. The forerunner of the many copies out there, Don Hansen invented the correction mouthpiece in the early 1980's. This MADE IN THE USA bit won't bend, break, and generally fall apart like the imported copies. Don Hansen perfected this bit for function and balance. The mouthpiece is a copper alloy that promotes a soft mouth. The shanks are stainless steel. This would be a great bit for the horse that has graduated out of the snaffle bit and is ready for curb pressure and some port. The short, curved-back shank allows you to easily flex the horse's head laterally for correct circles and turns. The shanks measure 7 inches long and the mouthpiece is 5 inches wide by 3/8 inch in diameter. The bit weighs 11.5 ounces so it is a very nice light bit for a young or green horse moving from the snaffle to a shanked bit. Don't miss out on the chance to add this great Don Hansen bit to your training and show collection.
