Landwirtschaftliches Hauptfest (Main Agricultural Festival) held in Stuttgart from September 24 to October 2, 1960. This festival was first held in 1818. According to the Festival's website, at lwh-stuttgart.de: Since 1811, and particularly in 1815 and 1816, one crop failure had followed another due to natural disasters. In addition, there were constant deliveries of grain to foreign troops. The result was a 10- to 15-fold increase in the price of agricultural products and widespread famine. 10/30/1816 - King Wilhelm I of Württemberg took office. In the very first weeks and months, the monarch took significant trade and economic policy measures that are considered to be the origins of agricultural promotion: - New regulation of the grain trade (November 8, 1816) - the state bought foreign grain and sold it cheaper. - Inventory of all Inventories (06/10/1817 and 06/16/1817). - Development of an exemplary public welfare system such as e.g. B. Founding of a charity for the needy (January 7th, 1817), voluntary aid fund (June 11th, 1817), founding of the Württembergische Sparkasse (May 12th, 1818), establishment of the State Poor Commission (1818) and local aid funds (1823). As late as 1817, King Wilhelm I decreed a series of peasant reliefs: - the abolition of personal serfdom without compensation. - the conversion of inheritance into free interest. - the contractual replacement of feudal payments within the framework of manorial rule. His wife Katharina Pavlovna, Queen of Württemberg, thought along the same lines and provided valuable input. 05/26/1818- "Announcement of an annual agricultural festival to be held in Kannstadt on September 28", consisting of livestock awards for the animal species horses, cattle, sheep and pigs, combined with a horse race, cattle market and folk festival.This example is F/VF, no gum. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such). Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs. A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described. * A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory.
