Gibson USA DARK FIRE -2008- [SN 013] We have a used 2008 Gibson USA Dark Fire in stock. In the 2000s, Gibson introduced guitars that fused tradition with modern features, such as the Robot Guitar with auto-tuning and the HD.6X with piezo pickups and an included interface. This Gibson Dark Fire was unveiled at an event in New York City in November 2008. Its specs include a chambered mahogany body/maple top and ebony fingerboard. The black binding and "Dark Fire" on the top go well together for a beautiful look. The head is decorated with "flower pot inlays" used on mandolins and L-5s, and the nut is made of smooth-sliding Teflon for smooth tuning. The neck is unbound, with medium-jumbo size stainless steel frets, and the "block position marks" used on ES-335s from the late 60's onward are made of carbon. Pickups are "P-90H" with carbon covers, adjustable pole piece for each string on the front and "Burstbucker #3" on the rear to prevent hum noise. The piezo pickups have been removed from this unit, and the electronics have also been replaced with normal 2Vol/2Tone wiring instead of the base wiring. The overall replacement points are the pegs, bridge, tailpiece, pots, and capacitor. There are some cracks in the topcoat around the peg washers on the 6-4 strings on the head top. The overall condition of the guitar is clean, but the satin finish on the top of the body is faded due to rubbing. The frets are about 80% full, and we have confirmed that the truss rod turns 90° both tightened and loosened.
