Description: GMP Vintage Series Midget #3 Edelbrock’s Ford V8-60 Driven by Bob Ward Beautiful rendition of Vic Edelbrock’s famous 60 Horsepower V8 Flathead Ford, driven by Bob Ward in the real life version. The model is in perfect condition. The box is perfect. I do not believe these GMP midgets came with paper work, don’t quote me on that, but at any rate none here. It seems this one, #3, is one of rarer of the Vintage Series Midgets. Given the racers fame maybe folks hang onto them. Here is a quote from Hemmings written by Jim Donnelly, slightly modified; “It was a sweltering night in August 1950 at Gilmore Stadium in Los Angeles. The field was dominated as usual by Offenhausers, long the untouchable elite when it came to American short-track racing, but at the the green light, the Ford V8_60 Flathead shrieked and the Midget darted to the outside, up on the dirt track’s cushion, powering effortlessly past the Offys. At the checker flag, the winner was Rodger Ward, the flathead’s regular driver. For the first–and only-time–a Ford flathead had beaten an entire field of Offy-powered Midgets. To this day, that win is considered one of the greatest moments in Midget history.” The Ford Flatheads normally raced in a lower class. Vic Edelbrock moved his midget up a class for this race, making history. I have never displayed the model, no room. Model is like new, but I must list it as used. I have had it awhile.I have a other diecast models listed. I am selling my extensive collections. Thanks for looking
