Description: Goebel M.I. Hummel # 80 "Little Scholar" - 5.75" Tall - Full Bee Mark (TMK-2) - Stamped Germany - Old Version with Brown Shoes and Hole in Pretzel - Closed Edition. HUM 80 Little Scholar - TMK-2 Height 5.75" This hummel was first modeled by Arthur Meller in 1937. There are some color variations between older and newer models. Old Style has brown shoes. Additionally, the older versions, some of the crown and early full bee trademarks, have a hole in the pretzel on the top of the cone. Later pieces are solid. The cone in boy's right arm is called Schultute or Zuckertute, a paper cone containing school supplies and other goodies, which German parents traditionally give their children on the first day of school. There are variations with the size of the figurine, ranging from 5.25"-5.75" tall. The hummel in this listing is at the top of the range, standing at 5.75" high.
