Description: Gorgeous Unusual 1880s Flat Back 14" LIQUOR DECANTER WITH Applied Glass RIGAREE Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE GLASS DECANTER Striking and unusual antique hand blown glass flat back decanter bottle measuring 14" tall. Featuring applied twist rigaree coiled up each edge, both front and back are hand engraved with stylized lines, florals and fan - collar is engraved with a running laurel band, front is accented with an applied blown pinwheel rondell, back bears a hand blown ribbed applied handle, and base stands on hand blown, ribbed petal feet. Condition is lovely with no hairlines, repairs, hazing, discoloration, or damage other than a tiny nip off the back bottom foot edge (found by feel). Glass is wavy, filled with typical occlusions and a touch of soiling with the interior (I don't have a tool that can reach this is clean out). Collar is ground with fine nicking around the inside edge - there is no stopper - does not detract a bit. Dating 1880s, it is an amazing antique decanter - so unusual in design - certainly Victorian and possibly Italian in origin. Wonderful addition to any home, collection or display!
