Wow ... Dead Fans !!! This was a day of days ! - and a 3-show run of 3-show runs ! ... and where ? You betcha ... the University of Oregon's Proud ! & Loud !! ' Mighty ' Autzen Stadium ( Built in '67 ! ). This Absolute-Beauty ! of a G.D. Pass was designed by Tony Reonegro ! - and features a Windsurfing Skeleton !! " running like a Surfer ! ... running on a Tidal-Wave ! ". Hat - Sunglasses - some Seriously-Rad Surf ! - a Lightning-Bolt ! on the gear ! - and even what looks to be a pretty friendly ? Shark down-below ? - Sure ! ... but no need to worry - never fear ! ... as there's a " Peace Sign " here - right-on the bottom of the Surf Board ! Hey Now !! - as it is Eugene !!! ... after all. Just about as Bright & Colorful as it gets ... all-across the board ! A way-cool design - for a very-cool & Historic ! event ... the Grateful Dead's 2nd " Triumphant " Return ! in 1994 to play the University of Oregon's Mighty ! Autzen Stadium in Eugene !!! This 6/17 Show was the 1st of a 3-Show stand in Eugene ! - and yes ... it took place in the " Oregon Rainshine !!! ". Because as rumor does have it ... " It Never-Rains In Autzen Stadium ! ". And ... I was so-fortunate to be right in the Front Row !!! ( just like Bob Uecker - right ? - Ha ! ) ... and right in front of Garcia !!! Bobby was even sporting some pretty smooth Green Patagonia ! on this day - see - I remember !! This was only the 2nd run of Shows that the Grateful Dead played at the U of O ( or anywhere in Oregon ) since the 1990 Summer Tour. The thing was ... they were faced with a " Ban " by the U of O for troubles with fan behavior, etc. - until Jerry Garcia Himself ! took care of it - all on his own ... and even by sheer coincidence even ?!? Or maybe ... " Fate !!!". Ha !! As he actually ' ran-into ' Dan Williams ( U of O President - at the time ) in Hawaii where Dan was vacationing - and so was Garcia - as he was Scuba-Diving !! Dan saw him - and Dan's Wife ! thought it would be cool for Dan to introduce himself - and ask for a photo with Jerry ! Jerry obliged - naturally, with one small stipulation ... " Why don't you let us come back to play in Eugene - because we love playing there ?! ".And... Well Folks ! - that was-indeed all she wrote ... as 8/21/93 & 8/22/93 - and then 6/17/94, 6/18/94, and 6/19/94 became " Reality ! " due to this most ' Random ' meeting ... and the rest was all G.D. / Duck U. History !!! " Duck U'r Face !!!!! ". How-Awesome ... & How " Historic !!! ". So yeah ...
