Description: Grateful Dead : Dick's Picks 28 Volume Twenty Eight : Spring Tour 1973 ! : 4 CD Set : 2003 (1973/2003) Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. ( GDP ) - GDCD 4048 : Out of Print ! Very-Rare !! " Original ! " ( 1st ! ) First Printing !!! '73 Fall Tour ' Live ' from Pershing Municipal Auditorium in Lincoln, Nebraska ( NE ) on February 26, 1973 ( 2/26/1973 ) &The Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah ( UT ) on February 28, 1973 ( 2/28/1973 ) A Complete Beast !!! of a Fall '73 Grateful Dead release ... undoubtedly one of the Very-Finest ! in the Legendary " Dick's Picks Series " - the Magical DP # 28 !!!!! Please Note : *** This is the " Original ! " Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. release from 2003 ( GDCD 4048 ) release !! - Not the 2012 Razor & Tie Re-Print / Re-Pressing ! *** Let's see. Wow ... I mean what even comes to mind 1st - with this absolute Beast ! of a " Dick's Picks " Series release . . . I know ! ... " Immaculate Tones " !!! Completely. 1973 Grateful Dead is truly unlike any other specific time, or era in the Band's 30-Year Career - in regard to the point of collective evolution with song-development, the current band format & fantastic ( almost beyond explanation ! ) controlled & mastered interplay. And, Spring '73 even marks " Tones " like no other, simply due to an array of amazing custom equipment, especially among the string section of the Band ! Garcia is sporting his " Alligator " Fender Strat ( a gift from Graham Nash, in fact ! ), Bobby Ace is not only sporting a stylish butterfly collar on his shirt ! ... but, he's also got a Gibson SG gun-slung around his neck ! And Ready Kilowatt ( I mean Phil Lesh ! ) is unleashing the thunderous sounds of his custom-built Quadraphonic Alembic 4-String Electric Bass !!?! - all in this Era ! You take this brilliant assembly of instrument tones ( at least to my ears ), and combine it with a young, fresh & hungry Grateful Dead in full-attack mode -- and a most dangerous combo you have. This is one of the strongest Dick's Picks Series releases of all-time, and since this original printing from 2003 is long out of print, it has become one of the most-evasive and hardest to acquire. I ( and probably many folks ) had so little of this material in proper " pristine " sound-quality when this was released over 10-Years Ago, that I just about went nuts when I caught word that D.P. Treasure! was coming down the pike! In fact, I only had Set 2 of the Lincoln, Nebraska show in A+ ( 10 of 10 quality ) - you know, the one with the legendary Darkstar ! Darkstar > Eyes !, to be precise. And you know how I had to get that one ? Call someone out of the back of Dupree's Diamond News in 1991, and set up a 15 Tape-Trade scheduled for the parking lot of the Charlotte Coliseum, 2-hours sharp before the Show ! I'll never forget it - we both had the same 1st Name so that was the easy part. And, we agreed to meet by the entrance of Gate One ( or " Gate A " ) at the Coliseum. But then it was like, well how will we know what each other look like ??! And my counterpart's answer was quite simply " Look for the Big-Guy with the Jerry-Shirt ! " I had my concerns initially ( for reasons obvious ! ), but when I walked up to the gate ... there he was with tapes-in-hand !!! Thankfully for me, there actually was only one guy that fit that description when I arrived. Classic ! Kind of like this absolute-Beast !!! of a '73 Grateful Dead release. Get it & turn it UP ! A total Dick's Picks Treasure ... both Nebraska & Utah style from the Legendary Grateful Dead Fall Tour '73 !!! ... and, 4-CD's worth at that ! Completely delightful, and then some ! ... Enjoy !!!!!!!
