Description: H: 6.5" W: 6.04" Gregorio Silveira He was born on October 21, 1978, in Mata Ortiz in a house in the Porvenir neighborhood to potters Gregorio Silveira Ortiz and Gloria Hernández. Gregorio was taught pottery from a very early age, intimately getting to know the process from beginning to end. He started working with clay in 1993 in high school, making clay bases for all colors and sizes of pots. In 1995 he began to make his first pots. He has participated since 2000 in all the Mata Ortiz ceramic contests, obtaining several prizes. The first being 3rd place in colored clay in 2001, 3rd place in polychrome whites in 2009, 1st place in polychrome whites in 2011, 1st place in polychrome whites in 2012, 4th place in colored clay in 2013, 1st place in white polychrome in 2014, 1stt place in white polychrome in 2015, 1st place in colored clay year in 2016, 1st place in white polychrome in 2020, 2nd place in white polychrome in 2021, and finally in 2022 Gregorio won the National Prize of Ceramics in the state of Jalisco, the San Pedro Tlaquepaque award.
