Description: This is a matted antique engraving from Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, a weekly newspaper published in 1856. The prints in this series have text on the reverse, and are printed on what is called rag paper, an antique paper that is stronger and far more durable than the newspaper material we use today.TITLE: STORM GATHERING OVER DERNIER OR LAST ISLAND, GULF OF MEXICO, COAST OF LOUISIANA (See pictures for smaller text) ARTIST: NOT IDENTIFIED CONDITION: EXCELLENT -- The prints in this series are clear, clean, and bright. No foxing, tears or folds. A really fine image. Excellent definition. Nice clean, sharp lines, and wide margins. This print is about 170 years old and guaranteed to be original. It is an authentic old print from the aforementioned newspaper and NOT A MODERN REPRODUCTION.The visible part of the print, including the white border (if any) is about 3 1/2" x 9 1/2". Matted the print measures 9" x 12".
