All of the fibers are intact, the colors rich, the size generous. Perfect for display purposes or to serve bread, specialty rolls or other item. This is a very fine quality piece, with the weaver's information recorded on the underside of the basket: Weaver: Ruth Dumas Date: appears to be 11-23-05 Time it took to create: 16 hours Overall size: 11” wide x 6-1/2” tall Opening size: 7-3/4" wide This beautiful basket displays the weaver's pride in her work with her name, Ruth Dumas inscribed on the bottom. This basket was purchased from the artisan at the Charleston City Market in 2005. The baskets are strong and woven tightly with locally dried grass and materials, and are best preserved when kept in dry areas to prevent damage. It is not recommended to wash your basket or leave in areas where it can easily get wet. Leaving the basket in the sun may cause them to change color over time, often darkening in color, but some believe this only adds to the beauty of the basket over time!
