Description: This relatively uncommon GUNJIYUBIN cover(w/3-page letter on gorgeous paper; pretty clean, but w/some creases, reduced envelope and back flap, and damaged stamp) was sent by a Japanese soldier from Hoeryong, Korea(then occupied by the Japanese), on December 22, 1922! For the Japanese, the Siberian Intervention had concluded about 2 months prior, and the soldier had likely been there in northern Korea as part of a force to support the Japanese miitary effort in Siberia, and/or as part of the occupying force there in the Korea! While a third of the red, 3-Sen, overprinted stamp(catalogues for at least 5,000 YEN) for GUNJIYUBIN is missing, the SOTN CDS from the Japanese Post Office in Hoeryong is superb! Noted imperfections aside, this remains a pretty nifty piece of Korea, and Japanese military postal history!
