Please see photos of all available charms -- gold or silver. ------------------------**All of my wire-strung necklace designs are crafted using high grade nylon coated stainless steel beading wire with professional finishings – lobster clasps, wire guards and crimp covers or calottes – to convey a rich quality in both look and feel.**------------------------ RED/BLACK/GREEN ~ The Pan-African flag is also known as the Afro-American flag, Black Liberation flag, UNIA flag, Marcus Garvey, Universal African, and Black Nationalist flag among other names. The flag consists of three equal horizontal bands of Red, Black and Green. It was first officially adopted by the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League in 1920. The UNIA-ACL, was founded by Jamaican Marcus Garvey. It later became popular as an emblem of Black pride during the Black Liberation movement of the 1960s. The profound significance of the colors have symbolized a host of deeply felt associations. Most recently, according to the UNIA, the three colors of the flag represent: RED: the blood that unites all people of Black African ancestry, and shed for liberation; BLACK: black people whose existence as a nation, though not a nation-state, is affirmed by the existence of the flag; and GREEN: the abundant natural wealth of Africa. The meaningful and representative uses of these three colors are interchangeable with Black Power, Freedom, Justice and Liberation and are used in flags and other emblems of various nations and territories in Africa and the Americas to represent Pan-Africanist ideology. Variations of the flag can and have been used in various countries and territories in the Americas to represent Garveyist ideologies. Despite not being Pan-African in its original conception, it has influenced the flags of many Pan-African organizations and policies. African Union countries who have derived their nation’s flags from these colors include: Biafra, Kenya, South Sudan, Malawi, Angola, St.Kitts and Nevis, and Libya. ADINKRA ~ originally created by the Bono people of Gyaman, an Akan people who settled in the area of West Africa that is now called Ghana and Ivory Coast. The Asante peoples of Ghana used adinkra symbols to express the connection between the verbal and the visual in Akan culture and to represent concepts or aphorisms. Adinkra are used extensively in fabrics, logos and pottery. They are incorporated into walls and other architectural features. Historically, adinkra was reserved for Asante kings. GYE NYAME ~ arguably the most beautiful and ubiquitous of the Adinkra sacred symbols, its meaning, “except God", expresses the omnipotence and supremacy of God in everything. This meaning draws from an African proverb about the mystery of creation – that there is no life that existed at its beginning and none will witness its end, except God. By following these simple tips, however, you can maintain your jewelry’s beauty for as long as possible: > DO NOT GET YOUR JEWELRY WET ~ Keep your jewelry away from moisture. It is best to remove your jewelry before washing your hands, while showering, exercising and swimming since contact with water can tarnish metals and charms and ruin the finishes of gemstones. > AVOID CONTACT WITH CHEMICALS ~ Perfume, soap, moisturizer, lotion, hand sanitizer and other chemicals can discolor metals and charms, may harm natural crystals and gemstones, and can also damage crafting materials. Be careful. > AVOID HEAT EXPOSURE ~ Leaving your jewelry in sunlight or exposed to heat for an extended period of time can also cause beads and metal to discolor.
