Description: The thing that sets our bowls apart is the FINISH. It's not a "dull wood" finish. We have a special aging wax finish that we apply to all of our bowls. It takes an already distressed bowl and makes it look OLD and WARM and very primitive. And it STAYS that way for the life of the bowl. It is smooth to the touch and it is beautiful. The "style" is the same as the others we carry...but this style is DEEPER. This is a nice, HEAVY bowl. This is Dough Bowl Trencher 2172 Rick distressed and waxed it multiple times with our special bees wax formulation to achieve a wonderfully primitive look. It's A Multiple layer process. (and therefore NOT suitable for rolling dough in). Measures 21" Long. 11 3/8" wide and it stands 2 1/8" to 2 1/2" tall (remember....it's a Hand Carved piece). This one has GREAT weight at FOUR Pounds! IF YOU need a LARGER one, check out the really GIANT ones we've just listed. See the hand carved rasp marks in the wood (Rick leaves those rather than sanding them smooth) for a beautiful primitive look. DO note that you WILL see wood splits and imperfections in the wood (in this case an indention on one end where he formed the bowl around a burl to the wood) . We simply wax and oil them in to help them blend in well with the surrounding patina. NO two bowls are ever alike. These are primitive pieces that are purposefully distressed to look old and used. These trenchers have become Extremely popular in the Interior Design Market as WONDERFUL centerpieces OR catch-alls. Could hold fruit in the kitchen.....any number of uses in any number of Custom Decors.
