Description: This beautiful cotton 1870's nine patch variation / ships at sea quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted. It measures 80" X 90" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of small age spots, very subtle color variation in the background fabric (exaggerated by the pics), and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall. There are straight line and grid designs quilted throughout at an even 8-10 stitches to the inch. The back is white, the hand stitched binding is an early seaweed print, and the batting is thin. The quilt came out of the Toledo, Ohio area. The WONDERFUL EARLY FABRICS and UNUSUAL DESIGN make this WELL EXECUTED 19th century COLLECTOR'S QUILT stand out!
