Description: Measuring about 5-3/4" x 8-1/2", and 458 pages long, this hardback book is the novel "Toward the Morning" by Hervey Allen. Published by Rinehart & Company, Inc., it is copyright dated 1948, and is signed by the author and described not only as the First Edition, but also as the "Bedford Edition", of which it is stated to be No. 772. The dust jacket illustration, repeated as the frontispiece, is by Andrew Wyeth. The book is in generally excellent condition, with just typical light surface and edge wear on the cover, as well as ownership and bookstore inscriptions on the front free end paper. The dust jacket is heavily faded at the spine and has some surface scuffs, and some chips and tears and creases around the edges and folds.
