Description: HMS REPULSE Old B&W photo War Ship Ferries Sydney Harbour 1924 WW1 Bi-PlaneHot off the email a researcher has identified the ship as follows; The ship is HMS REPULSE of the Special Service Squadron which was taking the then Prince of Wales on a round the world trip .The photo was taken in Sydney Harbour in February 1924 . Found below a framed baby photo taken in 1930, Print measures 10 1/2" x 9 1/2", so is most likely a chopped down 10 x 12"It was Glued onto a cardboard mount, and was successfully removed, but has some bubbling, foxing, fixer stain, creasing etc...The rear of the photo has interesting marks as well. The name Mr Morton refers to my grandfather who was part of the merchant marines during WW1 and beyond and served on several vessel including the TSS Zealandia. He did own a box Brownie Camera and loved ship spotting, so I can assume he took this photo. The running writing has me stumped, it looks like CYREAY? Is it a badly spelt or shortened version of the word Cammeray - where my grandfather lived? If you have any suggestions please drop me an email.from Wiki......HMS Repulse was one of two Renown-class Battlecruisers built for the Royal Navy during First World War. Repulse and her sister ship Renown were the world's fastest capital ships upon completion I am not that interested in selling this as it was a photo taken by my grandfather. I am interested though in finding out more about the vessels in the image and the celebration day that was taking place. If you can provide any more information PLEASE drop me an email All photos are second hand and are sold as is.They may not be in pristine condition, with small tears, creases, foxing, etc., which is all part of older second hand items.See the images as they form the best part of the description. If you really want an item bid early or it may be removed from eBay at any time.Combined postage on multiple items is OK.
