Description: Holton Collegiate Model 577 Tenor Sax Gold Lacquer; serial number 263769 places it squarely in 1954. It was made in Elkhorn, WI.Lacquer is worn off in multiple places; particularly on the neck and the side of the bell. There is a dent below the neck (see photo) which I don't believe interferes with playability; also one on the bell. It will be shipped in a nice used Protec contoured case, which by itself is worth $60-70, and a used Rico B5 Mouthpiece with gold colored ligature. Also, a couple unopened Vandoren 16 #3 tenor sax reeds. I do not know anything about saxophones and am selling this for my son, so had a sax professional look at it. There is a video of the professor playing it so you can hear it. Comments were:"Big Sound""Two metal pad resonators--left hand pads have them; right hand pads do not.""Palm keys need new pads.""Overall pad replacement would be optional, depending on how, where, and by whom this sax is to be played." So, if you play in a high school marching band or pep band and don't want to take your nice Keilwerth into the rain and snow, this might be a good sax for you, and you could probably get by with changing just a few of the pads. But, if you are a higher level player, and you're going to be playing in a performance setting, you would probably want to change all the pads. Please keep in mind I am selling it as is, and the shipping price makes returns impractical. So, please ask if you have any questions and I will try my best to answer them or get them answered. Thanks for looking!
