Description: Licensed and inspected MN nursery grower. Harvesting and selling hybrid poplar cuttings since 2012. ****Planting instructions are in this listings pictures.****Cuttings are harvested over winter and stored in the freezer. They are shipped dormant out of the freezer in freezer bags. They will take around 2-3 weeks to wake up and start sprouting buds and developing roots. Do a scratch test and under the bark will be green, not dried out. The new growth shoots we harvest each year have an older looking appearance on the lower end then the top, as long as it has buds it can grow. The buds will be sticky and have a unique smell when starting to open, which can happen during shipping. Cuttings should be put in moist dirt to root. Or they can be stored in the fridge until planting time. Hybrid Poplar cutting Clone types available (NM6, DN1, OP367) NM6 grows a little wider and seems to leaf out earlier. All 3 poplar clones grow pretty similar in speed. DN1 and OP367 hold on to leaves later in the fall.• Cuttings are (7-8 inches) long and diameters range from 1/4 inch- 2/3inch.• These are planted in the ground or in pots/plugs with one bud above the dirt-which sprouts and grows into a tree while the cutting below ground grows roots and establishes itself. • Hardy Zones 3-9 width 15-30ft Height (poplar 60+ft) (willow 40 ft) - results will vary, can grow up to 10 ft each year after being established with good growing conditions. • Cuttings root fast and no rooting hormone is needed. • Trees make excellent privacy barriers and wind rows, shade trees, fast firewood- cut stumps will regrow for future fire wood. Poplar leaves turn yellow in fall. Trees have aggressive roots and shouldn't be planted near septic systems. • Weed control and regular watering is a must the first year or two until they are established. They like well drained moist ground. Full Sunlight!!! • One option is to plant in plugs or pots the first 4-6 weeks and then transplant to ground after roots take over pot. This method works much better then planting cuttings straight to established ground. Disclaimer Sometimes not every cutting will grow - just like seeds. There are too many variables from shipping time to the handling of and planting on buyers' side to guarantee 100% growth. No refunds after 30 days. Pictures of failed cuttings required for any refunds.
