Description: Original Indian War Era US M1873 Type III Socket Bayonet & Model 1873 Scabbard w/US Brass Escutcheon - Blade is US marked - Modified with shortened blade - Very NICE Condition - RAREUp for sale is an Original Indian War Era US Model 1873 Type III Socket Bayonet. This bayonet has the US marking. This was used by the US Army. This bayonet will fit the M1873 Trapdoor rifle. The blade and socket are in Very Nice Condition. The bayonet has been modified by shortening the blade. The bayonet is 17.5" overall length, with a 3" socket, 14.5" blade and 13 3/16" face flute. It also includes the Metal Scabbard with a Leather Frog & Brass US Escutcheon. The scabbard has a blue finish. The are some minor scratches and wear on the finish. No dents in the scabbard, a few minor dings. The leather frog is the US Model 1873, the leather is soft and supple. Some wrinkling and surface cracking. There is a slot cut in the top of the belt loop for some sort of hanger or hook. It has no visible markings on the frog. This is a nice example of this very popular bayonet, don't miss your chance to bid. See photo's for condition.
