Description: Ireland 1972, 50th Anniv of First Irish Postage Stamps "scuff" variety S/S Scott 326a, Hib MS1b, MNH. The Hibernian Catalogue has a value of €15In 1922 Ireland achieved independence and started issuing their own postage stamps. Initially these were overprinted British stamps, but within a few months they produced their own stamps. In 1972 they issued a souvenir sheet that celebrated the 50th anniversary of this event. There were 4 stamps in the sheet that depicted the 2p green stamp from that first definitive set of 1922. These sheets were actually printed in sheets of 14 (2x7) which were then cut apart to create these sheets. Each of these 14 sheets (1A-1G, 2A-2G) can be identified by slight variations in each sheet. What I am offering here is position 2F, which is identified by a small "scuff" in the margin above the top right stamp. It is not easily seen in my scan, but readily viewable when actually seen. Many of the positional identifiers are difficult to see. The current Hibernian Catalogue only lists two of the readily identifiable varieties and prices them. This is one of the two, Hib MS1b, which is valued at €15.00 In the future I will be offering other positions.There were a total of 130,000 of all of these sheets issued, which were sold out on the first day of issue. Stamps will be sent USPS first class mail with stiffeners to protect stamp. I am changing how shipping charges are done. I am going to add a minimal shipping charge, but reduce the base cost of the item, so the total is still the same for US buyers. For international buyers it will be cheaper. However, if you buy more than one lot, there is only a single shipping charge based on the weight of all of the lots. In order to get the combined shipping charge you need to put all the lots in the same shopping cart and then buy them, but don't pay for them until I send you an invoice, which will show the combined shipping cost. If you buy the items separately, you will be charged a shipping cost by eBay for each individual lot. Additionally, I am charged an order fee by eBay for each order that is made. So if you purchase items separately, rather than putting them in the shopping cart and purchasing together, I get charged much more by eBay. International shipping rates are determined by eBay and are the responsibility of the buyer. For small, inexpensive lots I will ship by untracked mail at lower cost at buyer's risk (If I have set that possibility, that is what will show on your shipping cost).
