The prototypes were released in 1940 and the production started at the beginning of 1941. Its most peculiar feature of the motorcycle was a side-car wheel that was driven with an axle connected to the rear wheel. These were fitted with locking differentials and selectable gear ratios to optimize on- and off-road performance. The twin-cylinder engine was capable of delivering 26hp. The BMW R75 was able to reach a max speed of 95 km/h.
