JABO Crystal Orbit Marble Collector Series: Lavender Spectrum Swirls

Description: JABO Crystal Orbit MarbleCollector SeriesLavender Spectrum SwirlsMINT-Run Date: 8/31/10 This Crystal Orbit run is one of my favorite JABO runs. These marbles have an uncanny characteristic in that they display two separate dimensions to explore...the inside dimension and the outside dimension. This particular marble provides the best of both of these worlds: it has a beautiful opaque external pattern of lavender, baby blue and ultramarine blue swirls. These external swirl patterns are just amazing. Once you peer into the windows of this marble, then you will see some additional internal details of similar colored swirls. It's like there is another whole aspect inside this miniature sphere to be studied and marveled. I spent 5-10 minutes with a magnifying glass exploring inside the windows and it is fascinating to explore. Oh yeah, don't forget this marble is UV reactive when exposed to a black light. See last few pics. That glowing glass is the UV reactive glass. This type of glass is called Fluorescent. FYI...Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation. It is a form of luminescence. In most cases, the emitted light has a longer wavelength, and therefore a lower photon energy, than the absorbed radiation...in case you are curious... :-) I try my best to take high resolution pictures with flash to show exactly what you are getting. I try to rotate the marble to give multiple views. I use a Canon Rebel DSLR camera with built-in flash in order to show as much detail and beauty as possible. Lower light conditions can easily hide small flaws and I want these little gems to be seen as clearly as possible. This marble was manufactured using the 3/4" machine and the size of this particular marble is 0.719" in diameter measured with electronic calipers. Note: the downgrade from perfectly mint is due to a small cold roll crease and trapped air bubble as shown in the last couple of photos. I think these lavender colors still standout to make an incredible marble worthy of collecting.
